Laura Sampson

.STORIES. SOUNDS. SHOWS.

Hello

Laura Sampson is a London-based story artist and published author. Through the ancient art form of oral storytelling, performance and sound, she aims to inspire adults, children and families to celebrate the power of their imaginations.  Her first book Enchanted Tales (Templar Books) – is available to buy.

Stories

EVENTS. CONCERTS. WORKSHOPS.

Laura is often commissioned by arts, heritage and educational institutions to deliver story performances, events and creative workshops for schools, colleges, museums, galleries, old houses, across the UK (and beyond).

Her growing repertoire comes from her Afro-Caribbean heritage, her studies in Old Norse and Japanese, and her insatiable sense of adventure. Magic spells, mythical heroines, vengeful ghosts, talking skulls, sacred trees, clever animals, gods, goddesses, giants, tricksters, shapeshifters, and more!

She is open to creative adventures of all kinds, and happy to discuss tailoring an event or session for your school, group, or organisation.

Sounds

MUSIC. RHYTHM. CHANT.

Sound, music and rhythm fill Laura’s work, whether in interactive story sessions for families, or experimental audio works for adults. A singer and Noh utai chant practitioner, Laura collaborates regularly with contemporary musicians and sound artists for live concerts and other projects.

Shows

writing. producing. performing.

As a lead artist, Laura writes and produces shows individually and collaboratively, for theatres and at arts centres, festivals, lecture theatres, and site specific locations. She also co-develops community performances for children with Rebel Tales.

Her current full-length show for adult audiences is HIDE (Vault Festival 2023).
